A 22-year-old Japanese influencer, Airi Sato, was fatally stabbed while livestreaming to over 6,000 viewers in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district.
The attacker, 42-year-old Kenichi Takano, approached her wearing a mask and hat before stabbing her multiple times in the neck and torso.
Little is known about Airi Sato’s private life, but sources say she had been creating content since high school.
Her videos focused on her daily life, offering a glimpse into her personal experiences.
One of her notable uploads, 3.11 Walking Around the Yamanote Line, documented her walk around the famous railway loop in Tokyo.
The 22-year-old streamer was allegedly killed by 42-year-old Kenichi Takano, who was arrested at the crime scene in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district.
According to police sources, Takano tracked Sato down by identifying buildings in the background of her livestream.
Takano later told police that he had lent Sato a “substantial sum of money”—around $17,000 USD—which was never repaid, TokyoHive reported.
He allegedly became acquainted with Sato in 2021 through her livestreams.
