Israel shuts embassies globally after striking Iran

Israel has ordered the closure of its embassies worldwide and urged its citizens to remain alert, after launching a major attack on Iran.

In notices posted on embassy websites on Friday, Israeli authorities advised nationals abroad to avoid public displays of Jewish or Israeli identity, such as wearing symbols or carrying flags, citing heightened security risks.

“In light of recent developments, Israeli missions around the world will be closed, and consular services will not be provided,” said one of the statements.

According to the statements, Israel will suspend consular services at its embassies and has urged its citizens abroad to cooperate with local security authorities in the event of any hostile incidents.

Authorities have not provided a timeline for when the closures will be lifted.

Israeli citizens abroad have been asked to fill out a form to update the Foreign Ministry on their current location. The information will assist in coordinating the return of military reservists and organizing potential rescue flights if necessary.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had stated that Israel launched “targeted military operation” against Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile program.

“This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat,” Netanyahu said.

The escalating conflict has heightened fears over oil supply disruptions from Iran and other regional producers who could be pulled into the crisis.
