Iran has threatened additional attacks on data centers across the Middle East in response to continued U.S. threats and air strikes.
According to a video widely circulated on Sunday, Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari warned that if the U.S. targets Iran’s civilian infrastructure, Tehran would retaliate by striking American energy and technology assets in the region.
A video released by Iran opens with a globe, then zooms in on the Stargate data center in the United Arab Emirates, displaying the message: “Nothing stays hidden to our sight, though hidden by Google,” it stated.
Stargate, a $500 billion joint venture between OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, was announced in January 2025 to develop AI data centers.
The project initially faced delays due to funding challenges and tariff-related costs but has since sought to expand with new data centers globally.
The latest threat follows U.S. President Trump’s warning to strike Iran’s civilian infrastructure—including power plants and water desalination facilities—by the end of Tuesday if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping channel that has disrupted global supply chains since the war began in February.
Several regional data centers have already been targeted by missile attacks amid the ongoing conflict.
Iranian missiles struck Amazon Web Services data centers in Bahrain and an Oracle data center in Dubai.
Last week, Iran also explicitly threatened major tech companies, including Nvidia and Apple.
