International Breweries names Cherian Kurien non-executive director

The election of Mr. Cherian Kurien as a non-executive director to the board has been made public by International Breweries Plc.

According to Nairametrics, the company informed the Nigerian Exchange Limited and its shareholders of this in its notice.

The firm noted that Ms. Tolulope Adedeji had resigned from the board of International Breweries Nigeria PLC following her appointment as Senior Director, Trade Marketing and Sales Operations, Lab as a non-executive director.

In a statement released by the company and signed by Company Secretary/General Counsel Ayokunle Ayoko, the company stated that “the Board is appreciative for her services to the Company for the whole of her employment. In related news, the Board of IB PLC approved Mr. Cherian Kurien’s appointment to the Board as a Non-Executive Director at its meeting on Friday, March 31, 2023.

Cherian Kurien, CFA is an AB InBev Finance and Technology Vice President. He has a track record of operating in the shipping and consumer products businesses on four different continents.

He has led multicultural teams working in several functions, such as sales, international trade, technology, mergers and acquisitions, in countries like Australia, Denmark, India, China, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Cherian holds a CFA charter and a Harvard Business School MBA. He previously held the positions of Financial Director for AB InBev India, VP, Finance Business Unit, India and Southeast Asia, VP, Strategy and Technology, South Korea, and presently VP of Finance, Africa.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange lists International Breweries as a company. With the ticker symbol “INTBREW,” shares of International Breweries are listed on the NGX. With a market cap of NGN 113 billion, International Breweries is now the 25th most valuable company on the NGX.

On Monday, April 3, 2023, the company finished its final trading day at N4.20 per share on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, a 6.7% down from its prior closing price of N4.50. International Breweries had a share price of at the start of the year of  N4.70 but has since lost 10.6% off the price valuation.
