The Nigeria Immigration Service has reaffirmed its dedication to using digital transformation to improve service delivery and tackle corruption.

This was disclosed by the Comptroller General of the NIS, Kemi Nandap, on Thursday during the official launch of the Service’s 3rd Nationwide Sensitization and Awareness Campaign Against Corruption 2025, themed “Increased Digitalization and Consolidated Innovations for Efficient and Transparent Services.”

Nandap said the agency is using cutting-edge technology like the Contactless Passport Application System and the soon-to-be-released e-Visa platform to boost productivity, cut down on red tape, and stop unethical behaviour.

She highlighted how crucial technology is to creating a more open immigration system.

She also noted that the NIS is fortifying strategic alliances with important anti-corruption organizations, such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, SERVICOM, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission.

According to her, these partnerships are meant to strengthen internal control systems and preserve ethical standards within the agency.

The Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, stated that corruption continues to be a significant obstacle to Nigeria’s economic development and ease of conducting business.

She praised the NIS for its proactive measures in advancing a service-driven immigration system that promotes national development.

In her remark, the National Coordinator and Chief Executive of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnena Akajemeli, and the representative of the Director General ICPC, Mr. Demola Bakare, commended the Service for putting efficiency and openness at the forefront of service delivery, through its anti-corruption drive.

The NIS launched the contactless renewal system in October last year with plans to first roll it out on November 1 in Canada and Nigeria last December.
