Access Bank Plc received the best “Company Leadership in Gender Diversity” award, Family-Friendly Workplace Excellence award, and Gender Equality Champion award at the Gender Leader Awards.
According to Vanguard, the bank was also given special distinction for its work in advancing women’s leadership and development.
The International Finance Corporation and the Nigerian Exchange Limited organized the Awards with the goal of encouraging action to advance gender equality and mainstream more opportunities for women to lead, work, and start businesses in the Nigerian private sector.
At the ceremony in Lagos, the bank’s group managing director, Roosevelt Ogbonna, accepted the awards on the bank’s behalf.
He said, “We are grateful for this recognition and dedicate the award to our customers, particularly the women, who rely on us to provide the right support to scale their businesses and improve their quality of life through initiatives that go beyond banking.
“As Nigeria2Equal promotes gender equality, we also acknowledge other business sector companies that have excelled in developing gender-focused programs
“We believe these awards are a testament to the successes of our collaboration with IFC and honour the outstanding contributions made by NGX-listed companies to the realization of a gender-equal society.”
He then added that Access Bank will continue to lead the agenda through the W Initiative in order to ensure the realization of the vision.
