The Federal Government, working alongside Siemens Energy and the German development agency, GIZ, has thrown open applications for a free Solar Photovoltaic Installation Training programme targeted at professionals, technicians and young people keen on building careers in the renewable energy sector.

The training is being delivered under the Siemens Energy Education and Development project, tagged SEED, with support from the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, a technical assistance initiative co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by GIZ.

A notice posted by the FGN Power Company on its X handle on Wednesday stated that the training will bring together theoretical instruction, hands-on practical sessions, technical site visits and competency assessments.

Participants who successfully complete the programme will also be awarded COREN certification.

“The programme is open to applicants with practical experience as well as those without formal education or prior practical experience.

“Recent graduates with National Diploma, Higher National Diploma or undergraduate qualifications, young professionals in relevant fields and people passionate about renewable energy are also encouraged to apply,” the notice read.

Applicants, however, are required to be available to attend the three-week training in person.

On how to apply, interested persons are required to complete the online Expression of Interest form before 4pm on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Applicants must provide their full name, gender, phone number, email address and preferred training location.

They will also be required to indicate whether they can attend the three-week in-person training from September 2026.

Applicants are expected to supply details of their educational and professional background, including their highest level of education, employment status, work experience and sector of employment.

Those with formal educational backgrounds are required to upload their most recent CV, alongside degree certificates or other relevant qualifications and certificates.

The training will hold at centres in Lagos and Abeokuta, Ogun State, with each stream running for three weeks onsite.

The organisers disclosed that the training and certification would be provided free of charge, while meals would be served on training days.

They added that accommodation and transportation would not be provided for the duration of the training.
