Hilda Baci receives plaque for world’s largest jollof rice

Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has officially received her second Guinness World Record plaque, which recognizes her remarkable achievement for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

According to Guinness World Records, Baci successfully prepared 8,780kg (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a cookout held in Lagos in September, a monumental feat that has now been confirmed as the largest ever recorded.

This global recognition marks her second title, coming just over a year after she earned her first Guinness title for completing a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon in May 2023. With both records now confirmed, Baci becomes Nigeria’s first and most decorated chef to officially hold multiple Guinness World Records.

Sharing photos of her two new plaques in a series of posts on Instagram, Baci described her double recognition as a story of “faith, fire, and history,” adding that both records celebrated Nigeria’s creativity and culinary excellence.

She wrote excitedly: “Our plaques are finally here !!! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria.”

She emphasized the magnitude of her accomplishments, stating: “And not just any records, two of the biggest culinary records ever set. Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves, a story that reached over five billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose.”

She concluded her post with enthusiasm: “I’m a two-time world record holder, someone pinch me,” she wrote.

Baci also drew a spiritual parallel to her journey, quoting Isaiah $61:7$, saying her journey was proof that “instead of shame, you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance.”

She concluded the quote with a personal application: “And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”

Baci’s largest jollof rice attempt attracted a massive crowd of over 20,000 food lovers, celebrities, and influencers. In line with Guinness verification standards, every portion of the massive jollof dish was meticulously distributed to guests and various charity groups.
