Herbert Wigwe: Huge loss for Nigeria, tweeps mourn Access Holdings CEO

Nigerians on X, formerly Twitter, have described the death of the Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, as a huge loss to the country.

AMBuisness reported that the 57-year-old business mogul died in a helicopter accident in California near the Nevada border, United States of America.

According to reports, this is the state’s second fatal accident in under a week as six people were feared dead after the horrific California helicopter crash.

Officials said the helicopter, a Eurocopter EC 130, crashed near Nipton on the edge of the Mojave Desert late on Friday evening.

It comes just days after a Navy chopper carrying five troops crashed during a routine training flight in Pine Valley, California.

According to NBC, the helicopter is registered to a Burbank-based tour company called Orbic Air.

Nigerians have reacted to this sad news on social media:

@HayanbisiAT tweeted, “I want someone close to Herbert Wigwe to just post and say this is fake news. I really want this to be untrue so bad.”

@Nwafresh wrote, “RIP Herbert Wigwe and others who died. Access Bank will be fine, life goes on…”

@boladzy tweeted, “Huge loss for Nigeria, one of the finest brains is gone just like that. Big blow for us, so young, intelligent and futuristic in his dealings. Rest on King.”

@chikaozukwe: “What a life, this man I saw yesterday giving back to his community by building one of the best private universities in Nigeria. May his soul rest in peace.”
