Harvard hit with another $450m funding cut by Trump administration

Trump signs executive order establishing US Bitcoin reserve

The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that it is cutting an additional $450 million in federal grants to Harvard University, adding to the $2.2 billion already frozen the previous week.

“Harvard University has repeatedly failed to confront the pervasive race discrimination and anti-Semitic harassment plaguing its campus,” the Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism said in a statement.

The task force criticized Harvard, calling it a “breeding ground for virtue signaling and discrimination.”

This adds to the university’s recent struggles with funding, amid an escalating legal battle with the Trump administration.

Over the past several weeks, the Trump administration and Harvard have been engaged in a high-profile conflict, particularly regarding issues like affirmative action and campus policies.

Harvard has not yet responded to the recent funding cuts.

However, University President Alan Garber had previously defended the institution’s constitutional rights, following the filing of a lawsuit against the administration to block the funding freeze.
