Spanish Airline Air Europa on Tuesday reported that a cyberattack on its online payment system had exposed some of its customers’ credit card information.
According to a statement from the airline, it sent emails to clients whose credit card information was at risk and alerted the necessary financial institutions.
The airline did not quantify the financial effect of the cyberattack or provide information on how many customers were impacted. No other information, according to the business, was disclosed.
“There is no evidence that the breach was ultimately used to commit fraud,” the airline stated.
It’s unknown how the breach will impact the airline, but Madrid-based International Consolidated Airlines Group, which owns British Airways, is in the process of acquiring Air Europa.
