Guaranty Trust Bank has suspended all international transactions on its naira MasterCards.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Bank through its social media platforms on Thursday evening.
“Dear Customer, we write to inform you that you will no longer be able to use your Naira Mastercard for international online and POS transactions effective 31st December 2022.
“Kindly note that you can use your GTBank dollar card for all your international spending requirements.” it stated.
As a result of this development, Customers of the Bank will no longer be able to carry out any international transaction on their naira-denominated ATM card.
Also, customers of the bank are required to obtain dollar cards for all their international transactions.
This occurred at the same time that the bank said it will stop accepting Mastercard for international online and point-of-sale transactions starting on December 31, 2022.
The Bank’s management is yet to give the reasons for the latest development.
