Google on Tuesday added new scheduling-related tools for Gmail, including speedy event setup and simple availability sharing.
A calendar icon with the choices “Create an event” and “Offer times you’re free” has been added to Gmail’s chat interface.
The “Create an event” button creates a Google Calendar event with the email topic as the event name and the email recipients as participants. It is very simple to use.
In order to easily share the meeting, it also creates a meeting summary in the email body. Although it was located in the three-dot menu, this feature was already present in Gmail.
You can drag slots across multiple days to share them with the recipient using the new availability-sharing tool, which opens the calendar in the sidebar. While you can send your availability to numerous recipients, only the first one to accept a spot will be automatically added to the invitation.
With functionalities like support for paid meetings and improved work location information sharing, Google Calendar is on a feature-releasing binge.
