Google on Thursday unveiled Nano Banana 2, the latest update to its hugely popular AI image generator.
The original Nano Banana debuted in August and quickly gained viral attention.
In November, Nano Banana Pro was released, powered by Gemini 3 Pro.
Google said in a blog post that Nano Banana 2 incorporates advanced world knowledge, using real-time data from Gemini to produce more accurate images.
The company also highlighted the update’s faster performance, improved ability to follow instructions, and sharper text rendering—ideal for “marketing mockups or greeting cards.”
Google said Nano Banana Pro will continue to be available for “high-fidelity tasks requiring maximum factual accuracy,” while Nano Banana 2 will focus on “rapid generation, precise instruction following, and integrated image-search grounding.”
Nano Banana 2 is now replacing the earlier version across Gemini’s Fast, Thinking, and Pro tiers.
