Google announced on Tuesday that the company will start charging commercial clients $30 per user per month for access to its AI-powered tools.
The cost is identical to Microsoft’s “Copilot” AI-powered office software bundle, which includes Teams and Outlook and is offered as a competitor.
This is an attempt to catch up following OpenAI’s unveiling of ChatGPT last year, which rocked the tech world. Google has increased its spending on generative AI this year.
At the Next conference in San Francisco, Google unveiled the new model of its custom-built AI processors and a tool to watermark and identify photographs produced by AI.
“We have released this add-on in response to strong customer demand and will continue to enhance and expand it,” Google said.
The “Duet AI in Workspace” feature of Google’s new tools will let users of all of its apps write in Docs, compose emails in Gmail, and create unique visuals in Slides, among other things.
In the upcoming months, the company intends to roll out additional solutions for consumers and small and medium-sized businesses, among other customer segments.
