Google starts deletion of inactive accounts dec 1

Google releases AI multisearch feature

Google has stated that it will be deleting inactive Google accounts worldwide beginning on December 1.

The contents of such accounts, including as Gmail, Photos, Drive documents, Contacts, and so on, will likewise be deleted by the company.

Google disclosed in May that old or inactive accounts are more vulnerable to hacking, and the company is revising its policy regarding inactive accounts to prevent that from happening.

According to Google’s new policy, “if a Google Account has not been used or signed into for at least 2 years, we may delete the account and its contents – including content within Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar) and Google Photos.”

Notably, accounts for corporations or educational institutions will not be affected by this. Furthermore, Google would notify the individuals several times before removing their accounts.

If, on the other hand, you haven’t used your Google account in the last two years and you don’t want it destroyed, you can continue to use any of the Google platforms and your account will remain intact.
