Google has canceled its Gemini launch events that were set to take place next week and will instead introduce its GPT-4 rival in January, The Information reported.
At I/O 2023, the company hinted at Gemini, praising it as a basic model with “impressive multimodal capabilities” at an early stage of its training.
Google had originally intended to deploy it before the end of the year in a surprise unveiling between the holidays. However, CEO Sundar Pichai postponed the launch because Gemini was having trouble processing requests that weren’t in English.
For more complex jobs, Gemini may combine several data kinds, such as text and graphics, to handle a wide range of applications.
In May, Google said “Once refined and thoroughly tested for safety, Gemini will be available at various sizes and capabilities,”
Bard, Google Assistant, and Search are just a few of the AI-enhanced products that Google expects to see advancements from Gemini.
