Multinational technology company, Google, has made public its decision to appoint Alex Okosi, who presently serves as the Managing Director for YouTube in EMEA Emerging Markets, as the new Managing Director for Google in Africa.
In his newly assumed position, Okosi will bear the responsibility of overseeing Google’s operations in Africa. This includes the implementation of various programmes aimed at fostering the growth of businesses and economies on the continent.
Additionally, Okosi will focus on expanding access to the internet and equipping the next billion users with tools to enhance their online experience.
“Alex is a proven leader with a wealth of experience in the media and technology industries. He has a deep understanding of African countries and a passion for using technology to empower people and businesses,” said Vice President, EMEA Emerging Markets at Google, Meir Brand.
Okosi is a well-established figure in the fields of media, entertainment, and technology. His most recent post before joining YouTube was as EVP/MD of Viacom International Media Networks Africa and BET International. Okosi’s most recent work at YouTube saw him significantly shaping the company’s development and growth in Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey.
