Global business jet activity rises by 4.8% in June

Global business aircraft flight activity rose 4.8 per cent year-on-year in June, according to new data from aviation analytics firm, Argus International.

This growth was driven by solid gains in North America and Europe, which recorded a 3.7 per cent and 2.4 per cent increase respectively, according to AIN online.

The result exceeded Argus’s earlier forecast of 1.1 per cent growth for the month.

Every operational category recorded an increase, with fractional ownership programs driving the momentum—rising 9.4 per cent year-over-year.

Charter (Part 135) and private (Part 91) flights also posted gains, up 2.8 per cent and 2.1 per cent respectively.

Among aircraft types in North America, light jets recorded the largest YoY growth at 5.7 per cent, followed by large-cabin jets (3.5 per cent), while midsize jets and turboprops each rose 2.9 per cent

The only decline was a marginal 0.1 per cent drop in Part 91 large-cabin jet flights.

Meanwhile, fractional large-cabin operations surged 27.9 per cent YoY.

In Europe, business aviation activity rose 2.4% YoY, marking the second consecutive month of growth. Large-cabin jets led the region with a 6.2 per cent increase, followed by midsize jets at 3.4 per cent.

According to the report, light jets and turboprops recorded slight declines of 0.5 per cent and 0.2 per cent, respectively.

Outside North America and Europe, global activity climbed 13.4 per cent YoY.

Turboprops posted the largest increase at 21.6 per cent, followed by light jets (10.9 per cent), large-cabin jets (5.3 per cent), and midsize jets (4.3 per cent).

Argus projects further growth in July.
