Globacom has intensified its nationwide network expansion to enhance customer experience, the company announced on Sunday.
In the statement by the company, the ongoing upgrade, which began last year, includes deploying new sites and enhancing existing infrastructure to deliver faster speeds and improved data services for Nigerians.
In response to the recent telecom tariff hike, Globacom reaffirmed its commitment to providing world-class telecommunications infrastructure while maintaining competitive rates for voice and data services.
The company stated that its network upgrade covers all aspects of telecom infrastructure, including core and access networks, transmission and IP systems, fibre expansion, metro access, backbone upgrades, and enhancements to power and environmental systems.
“The upgrade was undertaken to expand network capacity, provide more resources for subscribers for enhanced voice and data, and also to boost customer experience in areas where there is congestion,” the company said.
Additionally, hundreds of LTE 2600 sites have been deployed in key markets across Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Kwara, as well as in select tertiary institutions in Rivers, Edo, Abuja, Enugu, and Anambra.
This initiative aims to boost high-speed data access and prevent network congestion in these areas.
In line with the Federal Government’s broadband penetration drive, Globacom has expanded data network capacity and upgraded 1,700 sites, particularly in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau states.
These upgrades will enhance data speed and overall network performance, leading to improved customer satisfaction in service delivery, network quality, and coverage.
Additionally, hundreds of new 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations are being deployed nationwide to expand coverage and meet growing capacity demands, further enhancing the user experience.
