Glo encourages females to pursue ICT career

Nigerian telecommunications company, Globacom has urged females who desire to be in the Information and Communication Technology sector to keep up with the drive as it is a rewarding career path.

According to This Day, Globacom identified focus and persistence as crucial success factors for girls aspiring to pursue careers in the information and communications technology industry.

In a bid to promote inclusion and gender balance, Globacom partnered with e-Business Life Communication Limited to organize a sensitization and mentorship workshop for girls and students from selected schools across Lagos and Ogun states on Girls In ICT Day 2023.

The event was held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, to mark the International Telecommunications Union Day for Girls in ICT, aimed at encouraging girls to take up careers in the various fields of Information and Communication Technology.

The theme of the event was ‘Digital Skills For Life’, and Globacom sponsored it to encourage female students to acquire the necessary skills in ICT to contribute to the country’s growth.

Head of HNI, Enterprise Business Group at Globacom, Mrs Adeniji Adeboye, urged the girls to stay focused on their education and not be discouraged in the pursuit of their dreams, as persistence drives success in all human endeavours.

In her words, “Globacom will always encourage you all to embrace the various opportunities existing and those yet to be created in the ICT space and build fulfilling and rewarding careers.”

According to the report, the event had attendees from no fewer than 16 schools and involved various activities such as quiz competitions, roundtable discussions, and presentations, among others.
