Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has reshuffled his cabinet, relieving Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta of his responsibilities.
According to reports, Mohammed Amin Adam, the current Minister of State at the finance ministry and former deputy energy minister responsible for the petroleum sector, is set to assume Ofori-Atta’s role.
This decision unfolds amidst Ghana’s most severe economic crisis, with Ofori-Atta playing a key role in steering the country through debt restructuring efforts. Having served as Minister for Finance since January 2017, Ofori-Atta was appointed by President Akufo-Addo following the Ghanaian general election in December 2016.
Throughout Ofori-Atta’s tenure, Ghana aimed to navigate economic challenges and implement financial reforms to address the crisis. The transition to Mohammed Amin Adam reflects a strategic move, leveraging his experience in both finance and the energy sector to tackle the challenges and responsibilities associated with the finance ministry.
