Foreign firms, others to attend Gateway trade fair

Foreign companies from across West Africa have indicated interest in participating at this year’s Gateway International Trade Fair billed to take place between April 19 and April 29.

Similarly, stakeholders in the food, beverages, health, agriculture, and other manufacturing sectors, banks, as well firms in small and medium scales businesses have also shown interest in booking their spaces at the Trade Fair Complex, according to The Punch.

The companies organisers have declared that companies expected at this year’s exhibition include Leadway Assurance, Lafarge, International Breweries, Apples and Pears, Rite Foods, Industrial Platform, Remo (Arise), GB foods, Bank of Industry (BOI), Gateway Mortgage Bank, Providus Bank, First Bank, Sterling Bank, Lotus Bank and several regulatory agencies, such as NAFDAC, Consumers Protection agency.

The Ogun State Government had assured of adequate security of lives and property during the event themed “Achieving Economic Prosperity Through Business Connection, Trade and Investment.”

President of the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Mike Akingbade during his speech on preparations to date, indicated that his organisation was working with the government to make this a hitch-free event.

He promised that the innovations to be introduced this year will ensure more participants take part in the event.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Industry, Oluyemisi Somorin-Dawodu, had earlier declared that this year’s Trade Fair would not be an exhibition of products but a series of activities connected to the economy and trade, had further noted that other events aimed at making the experience more attractive for participants have been put in place.

In her statement, she said new initiatives such as a raffle draw with the grand prize of a two-bedroom bungalow and an entertainment village are expected to make this year’s event more glamorous
