The Federal Inland Revenue Service has approved eTranzact International Plc as a certified provider for its nationwide e-invoicing initiative, building on their earlier collaboration on VAT automation under Tax Administration 2.0.
In a statement, the company said the certification reinforces eTranzact’s role as a trusted partner in the government’s drive to digitise tax and business processes.
The FIRS e-invoicing platform, known as the Merchant Buyer Solution, introduces structured digital invoices for business-to-business, business-to-consumer, and business-to-government transactions. It is designed to simplify tax processes, boost compliance, and enhance transparency in the economy.
Speaking at the unveiling of eTranzact and other certified providers, FIRS Acting Director of Tax Automation, Mike Adoga, said the firms met stringent criteria, including nationwide coverage, robust security, neutrality, and scalability, with technical guidance from the National Information Technology Development Agency.
The Chief of Staff to the FIRS Executive Chairman,
Tayo Koleosho, noted that the providers were chosen after a thorough evaluation of their capacity to deliver services effectively at scale.
“NITDA’s role was critical in tightening data protection and cybersecurity on the platform, giving taxpayers confidence that their information is safe and the process is transparent,” he stated.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of eTranzact International Plc, Niyi Toluwalope, described the e-invoicing initiative as a catalyst for innovation in the way businesses engage with government.
“This recognition by the FIRS affirms our vision to be the preferred integrated financial technology platform for merchants and consumers. For us, e-invoicing is more than compliance. It is an opportunity to transform the way businesses interact with government, creating transparency, efficiency and value for every stakeholder,” Toluwalope said.
This certification extends eTranzact’s long-standing role in national tax automation.
In 2017, under Tax Administration 2.0, the company collaborated with FIRS and major banks to deploy an API system that enabled secure VAT and WHT reporting via TaxPro Max. That infrastructure set a new benchmark for digital transparency in tax reporting and paved the way for Tax Administration 3.0.
Beyond tax solutions, eTranzact also provides technology to meet broader government and institutional needs.
In 2024, it implemented a verification system for the Military Pensions Board, allowing pensioners in Nigeria and abroad to authenticate their identities with ease.
