The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has commended the smartcard manufacturing company, SecureID Limited, for its unwavering contributions to the country’s digitisation drive.
This disclosure was made by the minister during a recent visit to SecureID Limited’s corporate headquarters, according to The Punch.
Impressed by the factory’s capacity to produce 200 million cards annually, including vital documents like voter registration cards and national identity cards, Edun lauded SecureID’s forward-thinking approach and exemplary achievements.

He said, “You are creating a vibrant and forward-looking organisation that has not only achieved a lot but has laid the basis for doing a lot more, sustainably and in an exemplary manner. A strong brand is evolving.”
The firm stated that the visit was intended to familiarise the Minister with SecureID Limited.’s world class capabilities, including Global Certificates and advanced Smartcard Production Equipment.”
In addition, Edun lauded SecureID and its subsidiaries for their profound contribution to Nigeria’s economy, highlighting their potential to create employment opportunities and improve service delivery.
Furthermore, he promised government support to indigenous companies that invest in local services.
He pointed out that, issues discussed centered on key national interests were e.g. integration of back office services, financial technology, localisation of ESIM and data registration for identification purposes.
Meanwhile, the Group Managing Director of SecureID, Kofo Akinkugbe, said he was optimistic about future collaboration with the government and highlighted that Nigeria’s cyber environment could be positively impacted.
SecureID, a smartcard manufacturing company, has been working with MasterCard, VISA, Verve GSMA/SAS, and CQM certifications, to manufacture different types of high-security cards in Nigeria.
