FG partially opens Lagos-Calabar coastal highway for festivities

Nigeria is entering an era of concrete highways - FG

The Federal Government has brought relief to commuters in Lagos, particularly during the festive season, by announcing the temporary opening of a major section of the Lagos–Calabar coastal highway.

This accessible stretch constitutes Section 1 of the massive project and covers a significant distance of 47 kilometres. The temporarily opened road runs from the Ahmadu Bello Way junction right up to the Eleko village junction.

The announcement regarding this crucial development was made by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, during a recent event. The ceremony in Lagos saw the attendance of numerous government officials, esteemed traditional leaders, and various key stakeholders.

While speaking at the event in Lagos, Minister Umahi explained that the partial opening is specifically intended to ease movement for all road users. He stated that this measure is expected to put an end to the challenging driving conditions previously experienced along the busy Lekki–Ajah corridor.

With Section 1 of this major road project now formally open to traffic, Umahi declared that the Federal Government has completely fulfilled its commitment to the Nigerian public regarding this stage of the highway construction.
