The Minister of Communications, Innovations and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani has launched Project 774 LG Connectivity. According to the minister, the project aims to provide “connectivity to all 774 Local Government Secretariats across Nigeria.”

“As part of our plans to foster inclusive development and promote access to digital public infrastructure in government, I am happy to announce the launch of Project 774 LG Connectivity. The project which will leverage the existing infrastructure of the @NigComSat1R and @Galaxybackbone, will provide connectivity to all 774 Local Government Secretariats across Nigeria.” Tijani posted on X, announcing the launch of the project.

He added that the project will create 300 direct jobs, and could potentially lead to a number of indirect jobs that’s capable of increasing digital access. The minister also added that the project is “aligned with our Ministry’s Strategic Blueprint and a significant step in achieving President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to deliver efficient public service to our citizens at the LG level.”

The launch of the 774 LG Connectivity project comes weeks after the ministry launched the 3MTT Community Managers for all 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory.
