The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the rollout of the 2025/2026 Technical Teachers Training Programme, a tuition-free, one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Education tailored for public secondary school teachers of technical and vocational subjects.
The announcement, made by the Ministry’s Department of Technology and Science Education in Abuja, underscores the government’s renewed drive to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training nationwide.
The programme aims to upgrade the competencies of technical teachers, aligning their knowledge and instructional methods with evolving industry standards to produce graduates better prepared for today’s workforce.
According to the ministry, the programme is designed to enhance the quality of technical education by producing more competent teachers, equipping students with practical skills, and preparing graduates to meet the demands of 21st-century industries.
The application portal will be open from 8 July to 21 July 2025.
To be eligible for the programme, applicants must:
Currently teach technical or vocational subjects in public secondary technical schools or colleges.
Have a minimum of five years remaining before retirement.
Be medically fit and provide a recent medical report as proof.
The pilot cohort of the TTTP will be conducted in collaboration with the following universities:
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State,
Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State University of Benin, Edo State, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Bauchi State Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, Ondo State.
