FG approves salary increase for civil servants

The Federal Government has approved the increment of between 25% and 35% in salary for Civil Servants on the remaining six Consolidated Salary Structures.

This was disclosed by the federal government in a post on the X handle of NTA on Tuesday.

In the post, the Head of Press, National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission Emmanuel Njoku said the increases take effect from 1st January 2024.

In addition, the Federal Government agreed to increase pensions by between 20 % and 28 % for retired persons in the defined benefit pension scheme with effect from 1 January 2024 based the above-mentioned six consolidated salary structures.

The Salary Structure is the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure, Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure, Consolidated Police Salary Structure, Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure, Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure, and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure.

Recall that workers in Tertiary Education and Health Sectors had already received their salary increase which involved Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure and Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure for Universities.

Polytechnics and Colleges of Education also got theirs through the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure.

The Health Sector also benefitted through the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure.
