The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has launched a state-of-the-art domestic cargo processing facility at the General Aviation Terminal in Lagos, marking a significant step in modernizing the nation’s aviation logistics infrastructure.
The facility was officially inaugurated on Friday, in a ceremony led by FAAN’s Director of Commercial and Business Development, Ms. Joy Agunbiade, representing Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku.
According to a statement by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the new terminal is designed to enhance the scalability, safety, and reliability of domestic cargo operations.
“Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commissioned a new domestic cargo terminal at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), Lagos, marking a significant milestone in its drive to modernise aviation logistics,” the statement read in part.
It added, “The terminal is designed to improve cargo handling operations’ efficiency, scalability, and connectivity.”
The statement emphasized that the new facility offers reliable and secure logistics solutions, driven by the continued growth of e-commerce and agricultural exports.
By resolving longstanding cargo handling bottlenecks, the terminal is set to boost business operations and improve the nationwide movement of goods.
The facility’s enhanced processing capabilities are set to greatly improve the speed, reliability, and efficiency of cargo movement, providing much-needed support to producers, exporters, and logistics service providers.
