The newly appointed Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Mrs Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, has assumed office, pledging to advance the growth of Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector in line with the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.
In a statement by the Head of Media and Strategic Communications, Eniola Akinkuotu, Eyesan outlined her vision during her first meeting with management and staff, saying she plans to reposition the Commission as a business enabler and revive investment in the upstream industry.
She also announced an ambitious production target to raise Nigeria’s crude oil output while significantly expanding gas production in support of national energy objectives.
Drawing on more than three decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, Eyesan pledged to deepen digitisation, enhance transparency, and improve operational efficiency across the Commission.
The Commission Chief Executive expressed confidence that, with the backing of management and staff, the NUPRC would emerge as Africa’s gold-standard upstream regulator.
She further promised stronger capacity development, deeper technical expertise, and sustained engagement with stakeholders, unions, and professional bodies.
