The Chief Executive Officer of Baobab Plus Nigeria, Mr. Kolawole Osinowo, urged Nigerian youth to focus on acquiring critical skills to foster an innovative mindset.

This was disclosed by Osinowo in a keynote speech at a Seminar to mark the International Youth Day organized by the Institute of Industrial Development, IID, with the theme: “Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Skills: Fostering a Sustainable Future Through Youth Empowerment, Developing Tomorrows Essential Skills”, according to Vanguard.

Osinowo encouraged young people to be deliberate about their futures by creating opportunities in areas where none currently exist.

He said “Despite their potential, Nigerian youth face numerous challenges, including high unemployment rate.

“The youth unemployment rate in Nigeria remains alarming high, with many young people struggling to find meaningful employment. They should start thinking of innovative business and also set a schedule of their own and be a lifelong learner.”

Adeho highlighted the critical role of young people in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, stressing that empowering Nigerian youth demands a comprehensive approach that tackles fundamental educational challenges.

He stated that the IID program is designed to invest in individuals to ensure the future prosperity of the community, economy, and nation.

Meanwhile, the President, Inspire Xtra Empowerment Initiative, i-Xtra, Dr Blessing Ayemhere, said it is imperative for government to create jobs for the youth to stimulate economic growth in the future.
