Ex-finance minister Kemi Adeosun loses husband at 62

Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has lost her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who died at the age of 62.

The Adeosun family announced his passing in a statement issued on Thursday, saying he died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos State.

The statement, signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, described the late Anthony Adeosun as a respected businessman and a committed Christian whose life was marked by integrity, generosity and service.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr. Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

The family noted that he dedicated his life to hard work, faith and service to both his family and the wider community.

“Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him. He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the statement added.

The family said it is drawing strength from its Christian faith as it mourns his passing, adding that details of his funeral and burial arrangements would be announced later.

Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, his children and siblings, including Kuramo Capital founder Adewale Adeosun.

The family also expressed appreciation to those who have offered prayers and condolences since his death.

“We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences and support. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement said.
