Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest carrier, will increase flights to Abuja from October 28, 2025, as the city cements its status as a hub for international conferences and meetings.
The airline announced on Wednesday that it will add three weekly services to its existing daily flights, giving passengers greater flexibility and convenience.
The new flights will leave Abuja at 10 p.m. and arrive in Addis Ababa at 5 a.m., with onward connections to destinations across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, including Dubai. Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, Ethiopian Airlines’ Area Manager in Nigeria, said the expansion will deliver added options and extra benefits for travelers.
“Passengers will enjoy more baggage allowance on certain routes, including Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras, and Dubai,” Mekonnen said.
“You can also get double miles if you fly with us,” she added. The airline’s loyalty program will reward its loyal passengers with extra benefits.
The existing midday service will continue as usual, while the new evening flights will give travelers added flexibility and quicker connections to major African and Asian destinations. The additional services are expected to shorten overall travel time for many passengers.
According to Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, Ethiopian Airlines’ Area Manager in Nigeria, the expanded schedule is aimed at enhancing service and cutting travel costs. “Most of our passengers will now arrive at their destinations faster,” she said.
Ethiopian Airlines has operated in Nigeria since 1960 and flies some of the world’s newest aircraft, including the Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The airline connects Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, and Kano to over 150 global destinations, solidifying its position as a major player in the aviation industry.
