The Enugu State Government has revealed that Enugu Air, its state-owned airline, will commence commercial operations on Monday, July 7, 2025.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Peter Mbah,
Dan Nwomeh via his official X account.
“Enugu Air set to commence operations with inaugural commercial flight on Monday,” Nwomeh wrote.
However, the statement did not include information about routes, flight schedules, or how to book tickets.
This announcement comes after a previous statement by the state government in May, which indicated that Enugu Air would begin commercial operations that same month—a timeline that was not met.
At the time, the government revealed that three aircraft had been secured for the airline, with two already delivered and a third expected to arrive before the end of May.
Several states have been exploring the creation of state-owned airlines as part of broader strategies to boost economic growth and improve transportation.
Akwa Ibom State pioneered this initiative with the launch of Ibom Air, which began operations in July 2019.
Now over five years in operation, the airline serves Lagos, Abuja, and several other Nigerian cities.
