Emirates Airlines to resume flights to Nigeria before June – Minister

The Minister of Aviation and Aviation Development, Festus Keyamo, has indicated that before June 2024, Dubai-based Emirates Airlines could resume flights to Nigeria.

The Minister said this on Monday while reacting to the airline’s suspension of flights to Nigeria in October 2022.

This was disclosed by the Keyamo in a live appearance on Arise television on Monday.

Keyamo disputed the anchor’s claim that the announcement made by the federal government in October 2023 regarding the resumption of flights between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates was false.

He noted that the news on the resumption of flights between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates was not fake but premature and that the return of Emirates Airline flights to Nigeria will happen soon, likely before June.

He affirmed that all issues that led to the suspension of operations by Emirates Airlines in Nigeria have been resolved, and they are ready to begin their Nigerian operation.

“It was not fake news, it was hasty news.

“It is almost happening, i just received a letter from Emirates thanking us for going through all the gamut and that they are ready to come back.

“They will announce the date, It may be before June.

“It will be definitely before the summer,” Keyamo explained.

Recall that Emirates Airlines suspended its flights to Nigeria in October 2022, as it was unable to retrieve its funds trapped funds in Nigeria
