Emefiele: Good riddance to Nigeria’s worst CBN gov, says Onanuga

The Directory of Media and Publicity, Tinubu/Shettima campaign, Bayo Onanuga, has described the suspension of the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, as good riddance.

 

PUNCH Metro had reported on Friday night that the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, suspended Emefiele, amid an ongoing investigation of his office and planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

 

Onanuga, in responding to the development via a statement shared on his Twitter handle said, it was good riddance to the worst CBN governor in history.

 

He wrote, “Good riddance to worst CBN governor in history:

 

“His suspension took immediate effect, according to a statement by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

 

“According to the statement, the suspension comes amid an ongoing investigation of Emefiele’s office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

 

“Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi.”
