Elon Musk’s X briefly crashes, affecting thousands of users

Elon Musk’s social media platform X experienced a brief outage on Saturday morning, leaving tens of thousands of users unable to access the site.

According to analytics site Downdetector, which tracks service disruptions using user reports, approximately 25,000 users were affected. Reports spiked to about 21,000 shortly after 8:30 a.m. ET.

The issues were mostly resolved by around 10 a.m., though some users continued to experience intermittent problems until about 11 a.m.

This marks the second outage in less than a week, following a similar disruption on Thursday.

“As evidenced by the uptime issues this week, major operational improvements need to be made,” Musk wrote on X in response to a post about the Saturday outage.

“The failover redundancy should have worked, but did not.”

“Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms,” he wrote.

Musk stated that he needs to remain highly focused on his companies due to the launch of several critical technologies.

X did not immediately respond to request for comment, and no further details on the cause of the outage were available.

Since Elon Musk acquired X, formerly Twitter, in 2022, the platform has experienced several widespread outages.
