The billionaire CEO, Elon Musk, announced on Friday that his artificial intelligence startup, xAI, will present its first AI model to a small group on Saturday.
This comes about a year after the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which sparked a global upsurge in the application of generative AI technologies by capturing the interest of companies and individuals alike.
In 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI, the business that powers ChatGPT; however, in 2018, he left the board of the company.
“In some important respects, it is the best that currently exists,” he said on Friday.
The billionaire, who has criticised Big Tech’s artificial intelligence initiatives and censorship, announced earlier this year that he will compete with Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing AI by launching a maximal truth-seeking AI that seeks to comprehend the nature of the cosmos.
The team behind xAI, which debuted in July of this year, includes members from leading AI research firms, Windows parent company DeepMind, and Google.
X, the social media company formerly known as Twitter, and xAI are controlled by Musk, and both collaborate closely. XAI collaborates with Tesla as well as other businesses.
