The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it recovered N1.233tn between October 1, 2023, and July 31, 2026, under the chairmanship of Ola Olukoyede.

The commission disclosed this in a video posted on its official X account on Thursday, which highlighted its activities over the 34-month period.

“₦1.233 trillion in recoveries in just 34 months. This is the legacy of EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede,” the commission said.

According to the EFCC, it received 49,673 petitions during the period, and it described petitions as “the entry point for EFCC action.”

“From these, 39,615 cases were investigated. 14,476 cases were filed in court. And those investigations led to 10,872 convictions,” it said.

The commission said the figures reflected its efforts to tackle various forms of financial crime.

“But what do these numbers represent?” the EFCC asked.

“They represent the fight against financial crimes—from advance fee fraud, cybercrime, money laundering, bank fraud, and economic governance fraud,” it stated.

The commission added that behind each figure was an investigation and the recovery of funds.

“And behind every number is a case investigated, a financial trail uncovered, and public resources recovered to keep pushing the fight against economic and financial crimes forward,” it said.

The EFCC ended the video with the words, “The work continues.”
