DoorDash unveils AI-powered tools to automate websites, improve listings

DoorDash on Monday introduced new AI-powered features designed to help merchants onboard faster, enhance food photos, and automatically generate websites from their app listings.

One of the tools streamlines onboarding in a way similar to a feature Amazon rolled out in 2024.

Merchants can simply provide their website link, and the system will pull details such as images, operating hours, and menu items to create a draft listing on the app.

They can then review and make changes before publishing.

DoorDash has also upgraded its video library, allowing merchants to tag specific dishes in their videos so customers can order them directly.

The platform now provides performance metrics, including total views, sales generated from videos, and new customer purchases.
Restaurants are also gaining new photo-editing features.

AI Retouch can swap out backgrounds, sharpen images, and improve lighting without altering the dish itself.

Meanwhile, AI Replate enhances food photos to make them appear professionally plated by adjusting lighting and color.

Merchants can even upload a reference image to apply a specific visual style.

“At DoorDash, we’re constantly building tools to help merchants succeed, from their very first day on the platform, to every order after. These new tools reflect our belief that the right technology should remove friction, not add it, so merchants can focus on what they do best: making great food and delivering incredible customer experiences,” Brian Tolkin, head of merchant product at DoorDash, said in a statement.

The company is also expanding its commerce platform with new tools, including one that allows restaurant owners to generate a website using existing DoorDash content such as menu items and photos.

During testing, DoorDash said merchants using the feature saw an average order conversion rate of nearly 10 per cent.
