The President of the Delta Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Anthony Idigbe , has stated that the Delta State International Trade Fair Exhibition 2024 will promote South-South economic growth and development.
According to The PUNCH, during a courtesy visit to the Orodje of Okpe, His Majesty, Major Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd) Orhue I, revealed this on Thursday at his palace in Orerokpe, Delta State.
“The trade fair seeks to highlight the diverse range of products and services available in the area. It is nevertheless crucial for encouraging regional companies and drawing in investments that will surely help the state”, he said.
On April 20, the trade show in Delta State’s Osubi Town, Okpe Local Government Area, will begin.
The president of DACCIMA stated, “The visit to the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom was to seek support and royal blessing aimed at fostering economic growth and development in the South-South.
“Following its commitment to fostering economic growth in Delta State, the Chamber of Commerce will hold additional events in May 2024 and November/December 2024 at the Trade Fair Complex in Osubi.
“The trade expo seeks to highlight the diverse range of products and services available in the area. It is nevertheless crucial for encouraging regional companies and drawing in investments that will surely help the state.”
Idigbe also added that DACCIMA is dedicated to making sure the trade fair complex continues to be an important pillar of the Okpe Kingdom’s economy, acting as a symbol of wealth for future generations.
He said, “DACCIMA is actively working with a reputable investor to facilitate alternative power access through an Independent Power Project.”
In order to strengthen the state’s economy, the DACCIMA president underlined the necessity of enlarging the runway at Osubi Airport and establishing an industrial park nearby.
“We are unwavering in our efforts to support the expansion of the Osubi Airport,” he continued. We are pushing for its enlargement to handle bigger planes, imagining that it will become a vital centre of trade and business, a lighthouse of innovation and development that can compete with its international counterparts.
“We think the expansion will spark the development of a thriving business zone, drawing investors and promoting economic growth on a scale never seen in our area before.”
In response, the Okpe Orodje praised the group and said he would back any initiative that would strengthen Delta State’s and Nigeria’s economies.
The monarch states that “stakeholders are in touch with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, over the Osubi Airport development, indicating that the airstrip issue is still quite complicated.”
