Delta planes collide at US airport, no injuries reported

Delta can sue CrowdStrike after outage canceled 7000 flights

Two Delta Air Lines regional jets made contact while taxiing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, United States on the night of October 1, ABC news reports.

Footage shared on X from a nearby plane showed flashing emergency lights on the tarmac and visible damage to one aircraft’s wing.

Reports citing Air Traffic Control audio said the right wing of one jet struck the nose of a smaller aircraft.

A passenger told ABC News that their plane had landed hard from Charlotte, North Carolina, before making a sharp turn off the runway, at which point the pilot braked suddenly and the collision occurred. No injuries were reported.

Delta representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment made outside regular U.S. business hours.

The collision adds to a series of recent safety concerns at LaGuardia.

In March, a Delta aircraft’s wing struck the runway during a landing attempt, forcing a go-around and triggering a Federal Aviation Administration investigation.

In May, US federal investigators opened another probe after a Republic Airways jet was forced to abort takeoff to avoid a potential collision with another aircraft on the same runway.
