Dell Technologies has announced that employees in its global sales team who are able to work from company offices must return to in-person work five days a week, starting September 30.
The decision aims to foster a more collaborative environment and enhance skill development, which the company believes requires a physical presence in the office, Reuters reported.
“Working remotely should be the exception rather than the routine,” the memo stated.
Field representatives from the sales team will also be required to spend five days a week either in the office or meeting with customers and partners. Previously, they were only required to work three days per week in the office.
For remote sales team members who cannot access a Dell office, the company indicated they should continue working from home. Further details about remote work policies are expected in the coming weeks.
The shift comes as many tech companies, which allowed flexible work arrangements during the pandemic, are increasingly calling employees back to the office. Last week, Amazon announced that it will require its employees to return to five-day in-office work starting next year, tightening a previous three-day requirement.
