The Hollywood blockbuster “Deadpool & Wolverine” has reached a significant milestone in Nigeria, crossing the N700 million mark after over two months in cinemas.
With a total gross of N700,213,987 and more than 142,000 admissions, it becomes only the fifth film to surpass this threshold in English-speaking West Africa, according to the latest Nigerian box office data.
The film joins an exclusive list of high-grossing titles in the Nigerian market, including “A Tribe Called Judah”, which leads with N1.407 billion, followed by “Wakanda Forever” at N1.040 billion. Rounding out the top four are the original “Black Panther” with N818.1 million and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” at N750.2 million.
Since its premiere on July 26, 2024, “Deadpool & Wolverine” has enjoyed a robust performance in Nigerian cinemas. It made an impressive N41.6 million on its opening day, excluding preview screenings, and ultimately grossed N144.1 million over its first weekend, exceeding initial projections of N130 million.
The film, which had a production budget of $200 million and an additional $100 million for marketing, is comparable to other major hits in Marvel’s Multiverse Saga, including “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. Its success reflects the increasing appetite for superhero films in Nigeria and underscores the influence of Marvel franchises on global box office trends.
In just a week after its release, “Deadpool & Wolverine” had already earned N299 million, following a remarkable opening weekend where it surpassed N93.2 million by the end of its first Saturday.
As it continues to run in theaters, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is poised to further enhance its box office earnings, demonstrating the strong demand for Hollywood films within the Nigerian market.
