Dangote Refinery loses N32.5bn after petrol price cut

Dangote Refinery has shipped premium motor spirit to New York, United States, for the first time.

Reuters reported that the cargo, arranged by Sunoco and Vitol, was delivered on Monday aboard the tanker Gemini Pearl.

The shipment marks a significant milestone for the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility.

The deliveries mark a key milestone for the $20 billion refinery located in Ibeju Lekki.

At an event on Monday, Dangote Refinery President Aliko Dangote disclosed that the facility had exported 1.1 billion litres of petrol over the past three months.

He stated that the refinery has positioned Nigeria as a net exporter of fuel and ended the era of petrol queues across the country.

“We have been battling fuel queues since 1975, but today Nigerians are witnessing a new era.”
