The board of directors of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. has appointed the daughter of Aliko Dangote, Mariya Aliko Dangote as Executive Director.
This information was provided in a formal statement sent to Nigeria Exchange Limited and signed by the company secretary, Mrs. Temitope Hassan.
According to the statement: “The Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc (the Company) Board of Directors wishes to announce Mariya Aliko Dangote’s appointment as an Executive Director on the Board of the Company.
“Her nomination was authorized by the Board at its meeting on July 28, 2023, and it became effective on that day, subject to the approval of the Company’s members at its next general meeting.”
Mariya is a Project Leader with a wealth of experience and demonstrated expertise in a variety of fields, including Business Strategy, Planning & Implementation, Digitization & Mechanisation of Backward Integration Projects, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
She is currently in charge of the Company’s Backward Integration Projects, and Business and Strategic Activities, and is also in charge of implementing the digitization and mechanization of the Company’s and its Subsidiaries’ core operational activities.
Mariya graduated from Coventry University in the United Kingdom with an MBA, an LL.B., and a BL. She has taken classes in business strategy, advanced management, alternative dispute resolution, sugar processing, and productivity optimization. She is currently enrolled in the Cambridge Senior Management Programme.
She worked as a Business Strategy & Corporate Risk Specialist for the Holding Company, Dangote Industries Limited, prior to joining the company in 2019.
