The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, revealed that the refinery has increasingly depended on crude oil imports from the United States in recent months to maintain operations.
Dangote made this disclosure on Thursday during a visit by the technical committee of the one-stop shop for the naira-for-crude initiative to the facility.
He stressed that bold investments in strategic sectors are vital for achieving sustainable industrialisation.
“…due to a shortage of domestic crude oil, the refinery has increasingly relied on imports from the United States to meet its needs in recent months,” Dangote was quoted as saying.
The business mogul explained that constructing the refinery involved extensive infrastructure development, featuring a world-class, self-sufficient marine facility able to accommodate the largest vessels worldwide.
Dangote assured the delegation of the refinery’s unwavering commitment to national development.
Dangote lauded the technical committee for their role in driving the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s naira-for-crude initiative.
In her remarks, Maureen Ogbonna, who led the OSS delegation, called the refinery a breath of fresh air, noting its significant impact across almost every sector of the economy.
Following the visit, stakeholders and regulators met with the Federal Executive Council’s steering committee on domestic crude oil and refined product sales in naira to further advance energy market reforms.
