Dangote Petroleum Refinery has halted petrol sales in naira.
In a notice to customers on Friday, the refinery said the suspension would take effect from September 28, citing the exhaustion of its crude-for-naira allocation.
The notice, issued by the refinery’s group commercial operations, was titled “Suspension of DPRP PMS Naira Sales – Effective 28th September 2025.”
“We write to inform you that Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has been selling petroleum products in excess of our Naira-Crude allocations and, consequently, we are unable to sustain PMS sales in Naira going forward.
“Kindly note that this suspension of Naira sales for PMS will be effective from Sunday, 28th of September, 2025.
“We will provide further updates regarding the resumption of supply once the situation has been resolved,” the email reads.
The refinery advised all customers who had paid in naira and wished to receive refunds to submit formal requests for processing.
Nigeria began selling crude oil and refined petroleum products in naira to local refineries on October 1, 2024, as part of efforts to boost supply, cut billions in import costs, and lower pump prices.
