Dangote refinery commences export of PMS to international markets

Dangote Industries finalises N200bn bond listing

The Dangote Oil Refinery has commenced the export of Premium Motor Spirit to international markets.

This was revealed on Tuesday by the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, during the Global Commodity Insights Conference on West African Refined Fuel Markets, organized by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority in collaboration with S&P Global Insights.

Dangote stated that the refinery exported up to 1 million tonnes of petrol between June and July 2025.

“Today, Nigeria has actually become a net exporter of refined products. Before I came on the podium, I asked my people how many tonnes of PMS we have actually exported. From June beginning to date, we have exported about 1 million tonnes of PMS, within the last 50 days,” he said.

Dangote’s remarks come amid concerns that the refinery is yet to meet Nigeria’s local demand for petrol.

Despite ongoing exports of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), fuel marketers in the country continue to rely on imports to meet domestic needs.

The refinery has also begun exporting aviation fuel to markets in Europe and Saudi Arabia.
